SUMMARY:Thirst for Freedom at NH Theatre Project
DESCRIPTION:Join AIR to see NHTP’s Thirst for Freedom on Friday\, September 29th at 7:30pm in Portsmouth\, NH!\n\nOpen to returning AIR participants ages 13+\nFree of charge\nTransportation assistance available if needed within the Greater Seacoast area.\n\n—\nFrom NHTP:\nThe story of Ona Judge will inspire and touch your heart. Enslaved by George and Martha Washington\, she dares to defy her circumstances by fleeing their Philadelphia residence in search of a new life in Portsmouth\, NH. Her unwavering determination\, strength\, and sacrifice facing incredible obstacles and dangers make for a riveting and important story.\nThirst for Freedom is directed by Kim Starling and features performances by Seda Tuncok as Ona and Matt Recine as John Langdon\, along with Jordan Raymond\, Lionel Loveless\, John Bolduc\, Haley Devalliere\, John Jenks Seymour\, Richard Glenn Ward\, and Clark Kaddy as Dame Sally. Thirst for Freedom is co-produced by Jukwaa Mazoa Theatre Productions and in association with The Black Heritage Trail of NH and The Players’ Ring. \n“This may be a historical play but the story it tells is still relevant to our experience today. Degrading laws are still being enacted with impunity\, books being banned for the sake of weaponized ignorance\, and knees still crushing the civil liberties of too many.  We go backward if we do not heed the lessons of the past and that is what art\, theatre\, books and music provide us access to in the here and now.”   Kim Starling\, Director of Thirst for Freedom \n—\nAbout AIR Programs:\n\nOpen to teen girls and gender expansive youth who feel like AIR is the right community for them.\nTeens of all artistic abilities and skill levels are welcome. No prior experience required!\nAIR is free of charge and provides transportation assistance to families in the Greater Seacoast area.\n\n—\nHow To Register\nNew to AIR?\nVisit www.artsinreach.org/register to register online or print a physical registration form. \nReturning to AIR?\nIf you have already filled out a registration form\, simply email info@artsinreach.org to sign up for specific programs/workshops/field trips. \n—\nQuestions?\nContact info@artsinreach.org or call 603-433-4278.
